FEATURED CRAFT BEER

BY MIKE PUCKETT

La Jolla Brewing Company is located in my hood of La Jolla.  It has evolved into a pleasant local hangout with plenty of flat screens, all evenly spread out to allow for a great view from any angle.  You’ll find many local beers on draft as well as their own brews.

Not a sports fan? Not a problem. LJBC provides an  enjoyable environment for any get-together with a covered patio for outdoor seating as well some larger sections inside for group functions. They are family-friendly and a great place to have a couple of local La Jolla Craft Beers with friends or family.

Good Eats says you need to taste the beers below at La Jolla Brewing Company…

Sunny Jim’s IPA
Sunny Jim Cave is one of the most historic landmarks in La Jolla, being the only one of seven legendary sea caves accessible from land. Made famous as a place to smuggle alcohol during prohibition, Sunny Jim Cave makes for the perfect symbol of our flagship IPA. Our hop selection changes with the tides, bringing waves of new flavors and freshness to this historic IPA. In San Diego, IPA’s are a signature mark of the region, and as such, our signature beer requires a signature Landmark!
ABV: 6.8%

Glider Port Pale
The Torrey Pines Gliderport is the perfect spot to catch a crisp, refreshing breeze and watch crazy people jump off a cliff. The light and airy atmosphere of the Gliderport pairs well with our Pale Ale, a refreshing, clean beer perfect for a summer afternoon of taking in the view.
6.2% ABV

Cove Side Stout
Most beaches in San Diego stretch for miles, which is why the small and compact beach at La Jolla Cove is the inspiration for our “Cove Side Stout”. This dry stout is nicely balanced and unwavering, not unlike the stout beach at the legendary cove. So just kick back and enjoy a pint, because you won’t get any rough water here.
4.7% ABV

Bird Rock Brown
Sitting just off the shore at the end of Bird Rock Avenue, the giant rock formation has changed shape over time, but remains a source of community pride for the locals, surfers, and sea fowl alike. The familiar landmark brings comfort to many, much like the familiar light caramel malt sweetness of our deliciously balanced brown ale. American/English Brown Ale //
6.7% ABV
